Andrea Pacheco dropped out of high school six years ago. She was planning on getting her GED, but it proved to be harder than she realized. “I was going to be a server and clean tables. Then I came to Roosevelt STAY and they started checking all the boxes. They told me I was going to get my high school diploma.” Now, Andrea is heading to the University of the District of Columbia in the fall, where she’ll study either nursing or forensic science, and she credits her teachers at Roosevelt STAY for making learning fun. “My teachers have been so fun and so sweet, and they’ve helped me learn. She’s also grateful to the school’s staff for supporting her along the way: “People here are really motivating. They listen to me, and they understand me.” The part Andrea is most excited about, however, is what comes next. “I’m excited to be somebody in life.” #DCPSGoesToCollege
