H.D. Woodson High School senior Calid Shorter has one mission in life: “Help the youth in whatever way I can.” He’ll pursue that mission as a POSSE Scholar at Sewanee: University of the South next year, where he’s leaning toward international studies. “I want to learn about global problems, travel abroad, and experience other cultures.” At Woodson, he has played football, run track, and taken five AP classes, in addition to “helping out whenever they need me.” Calid’s favorite memory was winning the Turkey Bowl Football Championship his senior year because the game was so close, and he wants people to know that students at Woodson always have someone to speak to if they need it. “There’s someone here who genuinely cares about you.” #DCPSGoesToCollege
