Eugenia Young

Eliot-Hine Middle School

Eugenia Young is the new principal at Eliot-Hine Middle School for School Year 2017-2018. She comes to Eliot-Hine from Roosevelt STAY High School, where she has been the principal since 2014. Prior to joining DCPS, Ms. Young served as the principal of Youth Chance High School, an alternative high school in San Francisco, California, from 2009-2014. She began her career as an academic advisor in Fresno, California and has served students at the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels as a teacher, academic counselor, vice principal, and college counselor. With instructional leadership experience in both California and DC, Ms. Young has been able to be at the helm of student achievement and community building in the charter and public school sectors. She is most excited to serve as the principal of Eliot-Hine and values the opportunity to begin preparing middle school students for college and career earlier in life. Her approach to families and communities can be described as open and transparent because she believes that parents are important partners in education. Ms. Young holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from California State University Fresno, as well as a master’s degree in counseling from California State University San Francisco.
