Sheldon Willett

Sheldon WillettSheldon Willett, a graduating senior at Dunbar High School, may not have finished high school yet, but he already has big plans to give back to his DC community through a career in law. “I would like to come back to DC and work with the youth who are involved in the criminal justice system and give them a second chance,” Sheldon says. Through his participation on the Dunbar debate team, Sheldon has already started to build the skills he will need for a career in the legal profession. This fall, Sheldon will be attending Sewanee: The University of the South and majoring in political science with a minor in business. During his time at Dunbar, Sheldon has served as Student Government Vice President and enjoyed being a voice for his graduating class. He has also taken advantage of the swimming pool at Dunbar through his participation on the swim team. Thinking back on his experience at Dunbar, Sheldon says that he has had teachers who held him accountable and pushed him because they saw his potential. Although he is looking forward to starting his next chapter at Sewanee, Sheldon says that he will miss his senior class and the memories they have made together. “It’s a bittersweet moment.” #DCPSGoesToCollege
