Marlene Magrino moved to the District of Columbia almost 15 years ago to continue her career in education as a teacher with the Washington Middle School for Girls. After serving as their campus director, she moved on to become a resident and assistant principal for the DC Preparatory Academy. In 2014, Ms. Magrino co-founded Monument Academy Public Charter School where she served as principal for 3 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree from American University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Trinity University. Ms. Magrino believes that building relationships and establishing a shared vision with clear goals are the most important first steps in moving a school towards proficiency.
