William Myah

William MyahBefore enrolling in North Carolina A&T State University, William Myah says he has already met with alumni and current students to hear about why they loved their experience at this Historically Black College and University (HBCU). “Aggie pride runs deep and everyone has a lot of excitement about the school.” When he arrives on campus, Williams says he plans on getting involved in as many activities as possible. “I want to be an involved student and make the most of my experience there.” During his time at H.D. Woodson High School, William has taken advantage of the many opportunities the school offers through his participation in student government, the National Honor Society, multiple sports teams, and student ambassador program. William has also participated in the school’s NAF Academy of Information Technology, through which he studied computer science and learned a number of programming languages including Python and Java Script. He has already been able to apply the skills he learned through an IT internship where he manages data analytics and supports members of his office with technological issues on a daily basis. Through his internship, Williams says he has strengthened his professional skills, including learning how to acclimate to a corporate setting and developing strong problem solving skills. William plans on becoming an orthodontist and has already shadowed an orthodontist in DC to learn more about the career. “In that one day, I really loved the experience and I learned so much.” William wants to encourage younger students to start off ninth grade strong and explore all of the opportunities their schools offer. “H.D. has so many programs you can get into and you never know where that might take you.” #DCPSGoesToCollege
