The Office of Teaching and Learning’s Health and Physical Education department oversees the Physical Education Emerging Leaders (PEEL) Fellowship. Applicants must be a current and fully-certified Health and Physical Education teacher in DC Public Schools.
Fellows will:
- participate in school visits, equipment demonstrations, discussions on best practices and new developments in the field;
- attend the SHAPE America National Convention
- plan Health and Physical Education instruction that aligns with the DCPS curriculum and Cornerstones;
- deep dive into topics such as classroom management, program advocacy, lesson planning, differentiation, and high-level questions;
- work with central office staff to develop resources, such as yearly planning documents, to support teachers; and
- promote the program to colleagues.
In addition, the fellowship will pay for travel and conference registration to the SHAPE America National Convention.
