5000 volunteers. 426 flats of pansies. 353 gallons of paint. 1260 cleaning-wipe canisters. Countless acts of awesomeness. Here are just a few memories from our 10th year of Beautification Day!

1. The drizzle doesn't stop volunteers from planting at Key Elementary School. In fact, that rain will help this little plant grow!

2. No, that's not a Christmas tree. A friendly volunteer helps prune a shrub at Key ES.

3. Remember playing four square? Volunteers at Ketcham Elementary help paint squares, in Spanish...

4. ...And Chinese and English, so students will be learning even as they play!

5. Volunteers help paint line up triangles, and circles too. Students will "shape up" while in line!

6. Lots of teamwork going on at Drew Elementary School.

7. These Washington Caps teammates, Stan Galiev and Chris Brown, traded their hockey sticks for paintbrushes to work on the Drew ES' logo. Their hand-eye coordination is pretty great.

8. Over at Eastern Senior High School, volunteers paint banners that will welcome students on their first day.

9. Volunteers were laser-focused on getting every detail right for Eastern students.

10. Students will also see freshly planted, beautiful flowers-- just as bright as the volunteer spirit.
