
Greg Moffitt is the Instructional Superintendent for Cluster 6. A veteran educator with more than two decades of school leadership experience, he has served as a teacher, department chair, director of student activities, assistant principal, principal, and district administrator. Mr. Moffitt began his teaching career in Providence, Rhode Island before moving to California where he taught middle school English language arts, social studies, and leadership. In 2012, Mr. Moffitt was appointed Assistant Principal at Winters Elementary School and became principal in 2014. During his tenure, Mr. Moffitt implemented an instructional coaching and peer observation model, re-launched the school’s dual language program, and expanded social-emotional learning, leading to double digit gains in both English language arts and math scores on statewide assessments. In 2019, he was selected to lead Fairmont Elementary School, a district-run charter school focused on science, technology, engineering, art, and science. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Mr. Moffitt increased student enrollment and strengthened students’ sense of belonging, contributing to the school’s successful reauthorization.
Mr. Moffitt joined DCPS in 2022 as a leadership coach supporting first-year principals. In 2024, he became Director of School Leader Preparation and Development, where he led the district’s professional learning and leadership programming for aspiring, beginning, and veteran school leaders.
A graduate of Brown University, Mr. Moffitt holds a bachelor’s degree in Education, History and Policy, and a Master of Arts in Teaching. He also earned a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard Business School Online. Mr. Moffitt is a recognized National Mentor Principal through the National Association of Elementary School Principals and a certified 5-Square Emotional Intelligence Coach.
A proud resident of Washington, D.C., Mr. Moffitt is also the proud parent of a 2026 DCPS graduate.
