The DCPS Private Universities Dual Enrollment program application is open to current 10th & 11th grade DCPS students (rising juniors & seniors) with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Current 11th grade students can apply to American University (School of Education), American University (Data Science Program), Catholic University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, and Howard University.
- Current 10th grade students can apply to Howard University.
Students who apply and are accepted into the DCPS Private Universities Dual Enrollment program will be responsible for the cost of course materials (books, supplies, etc.) and transportation. The university will cover the cost of tuition for approved dual enrollment courses. The number of courses in which a student may enroll is at the discretion of the institution of higher education.
Application Timeline
Accepted students will be considered as part-time, non-degree seeking students for one academic year (fall and spring). The application for school year 2025-2026 will open on March 5, 2025 and close on April 4, 2025.
How to Apply
The online application must be completed in one sitting. You will not have the option to save your application and return to it later.
1. Before starting the application, determine the following:
- What colleges am I eligible to apply to?
- Of those schools, which college is the best fit? (Consider campus location & classes offered.)
- View the DCPS Private Universities School Selection Guide.
2. Request and prepare all required application documents.
Students are responsible for ensuring all application documents are received and uploaded to their application by the program deadline.

- Counselor or Principal Recommendation Form
- Students are responsible for requesting this be completed AND ensuring it is uploaded before the deadline.

- Students must complete all 3 of the “Higher Education Aspirations” prompts AND must complete all prompts listed under the university(s) they are interested in applying to.

I Applied – What’s Next?
Only completed applications will be sent for college/university review! A completed application will have all required materials completed & uploaded by the program deadline.
If accepted into the DCPS Private Universities Dual Enrollment program:
1. Admission decisions will be released via email. Decisions are typically released around one month after the application closes.
2. After program acceptance, students will be required to confirm their "Intent to Enroll".
3. Once confirmed, students will receive enrollment next-steps and course registration instructions directly from the college/university they were accepted to.

- Students are responsible for checking the email they provided in the application and completing the enrollment steps outlined by their college/university.
4. Mrs. Webster (DCPS Dual Enrollment Coordinator) & your college/university advisor will host orientation sessions prior to the start of the semester.
