Roosevelt High School and MacFarland Middle School
Aqueelha James is the new principal at Roosevelt High School and the newly opened MacFarland Middle School for School Year 2016-2017. Since January 2016, James has served as Roosevelt High School’s planning principal where she is helping prepare the school to launch three new programs, including a global studies program, a 9th grade dual-language program, and an International Academy. James comes to the Roosevelt community from John Burroughs Elementary School in Ward 5 where she was the principal for three years. Prior to her role there, she served as an assistant principal at Anacostia High School and a biotechnology teacher at McKinley Tech High School. James received her bachelor’s degree in natural sciences and biology from Bowie State University and a master’s of science in education from Trinity Washington University.
