
George Hill, II comes to the Master Educator Program after thirteen years of teaching in Washington, DC and the Metropolitan Detroit Area. George is a proud graduate of the Detroit Public School System. He has served as Director of Instrumental and Vocal Music for the Ecorse Public School System, as well as the President of the Ecorse Federation of Teachers. George taught in DC Public Schools for three years, where he was Highly Effective for two consecutive years while teaching at Charles Drew and Marshall Elementary Schools. Mr. Hill has also served as the Teacher Lead for Marshall Elementary School.
During his time in the classroom, George was responsible for a broad range of courses from elementary, middle, and high school but worked to include technology and literacy activities in all lessons to help improve students’ proficiency. George has directed many musicals while serving as a choral director, band director, and drama instructor. Mr. Hill’s ensembles and performing groups have performed around the United States including many appearances in Mardi Gras Parades in New Orleans and as far as Freeport, Bahamas.
George has received many awards including the Superintendent’s Award for Above and Beyond, Wayne Resa Teacher of The Year-Ecorse High School 2007, Kennedy Middle School Teacher of the Year, and the National Alliance of Black School Educators Teacher of the Year Award 2006-2007. George holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Olivet College. In addition, Mr. Hill has a Masters in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University and is currently completing his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and an Associates of Applied Science in Information Technology.
George proudly returns for a fourth year to serve as the Master Educator for Music and Performing Arts.
