School Without Walls senior Isabel Herburger plans to become a gynecologist, so she’ll be studying biology at Columbia University next year. She’s excited to be pursuing her degree in a city with such a “history of eclectic and modern culture,” surrounded by other people who are passionate about what they’re doing. She feels ready to take the next step thanks to her education at Walls because it has taught her “to be independent and advocate” for herself. On top of school and a part-time job, Isabel has run the Photography Club at Walls and interned at a George Washington University lab for 15-20 hours per week, an opportunity that got her research published before even graduating high school! For students thinking about going to Walls, Isabel recommends making the most of the experience: “Walls is what you make of it. If you have the right attitude, it helps you go where you want to go.” #DCPSGoesToCollege
