Kathleen Satterley

Kathleen Satterley, now in her fourth year as a part of the Master Educator team, has accumulated over 20 years of experience teaching physical education, health and electives at various levels. Additionally she serves as a content chairperson for Career and Technology Education and Physical Education and has offered professional development in each of these areas.

She began her career in the Rochester, NY City School District where she taught for two years. She then spent ten years at Hilton High School in the Hilton Central School District before moving to sunny Florida where she taught Middle School Health and Physical Education for 7 years.

She served as Department Chairperson for Electives, Team Leader and Healthy Schools Facilitator for The Alliance for a Healthier Generation. She was also a member of the Executive Board for New York State Association of Physical Education Recreation and Dance and the National Field Hockey Association Regional All American Committee.  Kathleen presented at conferences all over New York State and challenged New York State to change their standards to include activities such as yoga and self-defense.

She was selected as Teacher of the Year in 2008 and was awarded by ING bank for her excellence in teaching and participation in the ING Marathons “Run for Something Better”program.

For eight years during her teaching career, Kathleen became the Head Field Hockey Coach at a Division III College and proprietor of the Nazareth College Field Hockey Camp.  Here she built a program from a club team, to a full fledged NCAA contender.

A certified Life coach and Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner, she has also facilitated workshops all over the world in hopes to help others become more unlimited in their thinking.   Kathleen brings a diverse background of experience to the ME program in hopes to offer a different perspective to DCPS in their commitment to educational reform.
