Randle-Highlands Elementary School
Kristie Edwards is the new principal at Randle-Highlands Elementary School for School Year 2017-2018. She began her education career in 2000 as a special education teacher for various schools within a 10-year span. During this time in her teaching career, she achieved significant gains with students in the areas of reading level growth and achievement on the end-of-grade test. She was also able to administer workshops to teachers and parents about teaching students with special needs. In 2010, Edwards became an instructional coach and new teacher mentor and inductee, where she observed more than 35 teachers in their classrooms and offered insight for the enhancement of teaching-learning situations. She then became an assistant principal at Columbia Heights Education Campus (CHEC) in 2011. At CHEC, Ms. Edwards accomplished several goals, including developing and implementing a strategic language arts plan that yielded scores increasing from 31 percent to 43 percent on the state exam. Ms. Edwards holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies and foreign policies from Shaw University and a master’s of education in school administration and supervision from the University of Phoenix.
