Hardy Middle School
Lucas Cooke is the new principal at Hardy Middle School for School Year 2017-2018. Prior to assuming the principal role at Hardy, he served as an assistant principal at Eastern High School for three years. During his time as a 9th Grade Academy assistant principal at Eastern, the school saw a continual increase in 9th grade promotion rates, coupled with decreases in suspensions. Before coming to DCPS, Cooke worked as an assistant principal and then principal at the Bushwick School for Social Justice in New York City. Cooke’s approach to the role is one of sincerity. He strives to be direct, caring, supportive, and clear with all members of the school community. He received his bachelor’s degree in English and master’s degree in teaching from the College of New Jersey, as well a master’s degree in educational leadership from Baruch College.
