Michael Alexander

Michael AlexanderWashington Metropolitan High School

Michael Alexander is the new principal at Washington Metropolitan High School and CHOICE Academy for School Year 2016-2017. Most recently, Alexander was a Mary Jane Patterson fellow where he served at Thomson Elementary School, Cardozo Education Campus, and Columbia Heights Education Campus. Before that, he was an assistant principal at Cardozo Education Campus, and the assistant principal of intervention and dean of students at MacFarland Middle School. As a Highly Effective assistant principal in School Year 2013-2014, Alexander helped reduce school suspensions at Cardozo by 50 percent. He began his career teaching at Amidon-Bowen Elementary School, Barnard Elementary School, and MacFarland Middle School for a total of five years. Alexander received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and physical education from Morehouse College, his master’s degree in business administration from Texas Women’s University, and his graduate certificate in educational leadership and administration from George Washington University.
