Latest Updates

All DCPS schools are closed for students through April 24 and DCPS will provide meals to students across the district. DCPS is also providing distance learning resources for students to continue learning at home. For more information on these topics, please review the sections below.

School Calendar Changes

In response to coronavirus (COVID-19), all schools will be closed for students from March 16 through April 24. March 16 will be professional development for teachers and spring break will be March 17 to March 23. There will no longer be a Spring Break period in April. From March 24 to April 24, students will participate in distance learning, and classes will resume on Monday, April 27. More information about the DCPS School Year 2019-2020 calendar.

Meals will be available for all students every weekday at locations throughout the city. Visit this link and select, Meal Locations for All DC Students, for more information. Meal service times may vary.

Distance Learning

DCPS prepared printed packets of learning materials for every grade level from Pre-K through 8th grade and each graduation requirement course for 9-12th grade. These activities will continue classroom learning at home and engage students during a period of school closure. These materials were designed to meet the needs of all students including English Learners and students with special needs. DCPS families can pick up hardcopies of distance learning printed materials at their school on the following days between 8:30 am and 2 pm: Thursday, March 19; Friday, March 20; and Monday, March 23. Due to the extended school closure timeline, we will also have a second round of packet pick-up days on March 31 and April 1 to support your child’s learning through April 24. More information will be shared at a later date.

Instructional materials will be available online starting Friday, March 20. Follow this link to download lessons and activities for students, no login or password necessary, at bit.ly/DCPS_ICP.

We encourage you to share how your family is continuing learning at home by sharing your experience on social media using #DCPSatHome.
