Principal, Drew Elementary School

Na’imah Salahuddin is serving in her fourth year as the principal of Drew Elementary School. She has been an enthusiastic educator in the DCPS community since the beginning of her career in 2000. Principal Salahuddin takes pride in the fact that during her time at Drew, the school community has worked to reduce student suspensions to zero for two consecutive years and raise student satisfaction to 98%. “While it is important that we focus on academics it is also important to make sure students enjoy coming to school and feel encouraged that they can achieve at their highest potential.” 

Principal Salahuddin truly believes students perform at their best when staff, parents, students and community members hold them to high expectations and provide them with rigorous and targeted learning experiences in a loving environment.  The motto at Drew Elementary, “We discover success in every child, every day”, serves as a daily motivator for Salahuddin.  Since she began, the students at Drew Elementary have experienced a 34% growth in Math state-wide assessments, as well as an 18% increase in Reading achievement.  Principal Salahuddin is inspired by the continuous progress and achievement the students at Drew are making on the daily basis and looks forward to the future success of the school community.
