Why DCPS?
I believe public schooling is the last bastion of hope for the greater American society. It has historically been a place where people of all races, ethnicities, religions, genders, and socio-economic backgrounds came together to learn, grow, and understand how to “be”. In my examination of DCPS, I found that the school system is providing an education that is equitable for all children and on par with both private and charter schools in the city. In addition, the administrators, teachers and staff are working hard to maintain the system’s integrity while being good stewards of tax dollars. To that end, I feel that DCPS offers the hope I was looking for to me as a parent, and to this ever-evolving city.

Why am I excited to be a member of the Chancellor’s Parent Cabinet?
I am passionate about serving on the Parent Cabinet because I believe in the promise of public education. I am an illustration of that promise fulfilled-a promise that afforded me the opportunity to prosper in society upon receiving a good education. I have two children that are just entering DCPS, and together we have a long and exciting educational road ahead of us. I have not only a social but also a personal responsibility to support the continuous evolution of our public-school system.

Consistency in curriculum across DCPS.
