Ricky’Tayvon Gresholm

Ricky’Tayvon GresholmRicky’Tayvon Gresholm’s exploration of dance during his time at Duke Ellington School of the Arts has not been limited to the classroom. With the support of the dance program at Duke Ellington, Ricky has traveled to participate in summer intensive programs through the Dance Theater of Harlem, Kansas City Ballet, and the International Association of Blacks in Dance. Ricky says his most memorable performance was at the NAACP convention last January where he had the opportunity to meet Black Panther star, Chadwick Boseman. This fall, Ricky will enroll at Virginia Commonwealth University and study both dance and forensic science. While this may seem like an unlikely pairing, Ricky says that he has always been drawn to science and looks forward to getting involved in the forensic science program at VCU because of its strong connection to the federal government and internship opportunities. In addition, Ricky says that he was also drawn to the dance program at VCU because of the focus on contemporary ballet. “The style of dance is very abstract.” #DCPSGoesToCollege
