Mikaila Williams

Mikaila Williams As a 16-year-old graduate of Washington Metropolitan High School, Mikaila Williams is paving the way for younger students in more ways than one. As a first-generation college student, Mikaila says she wants her actions to encourage others to pursue a college degree. “I want to inspire other people to go out and see different things in the world and go to college.” At the University of the District of Columbia, Mikaila is looking forward to studying graphic design, a topic she has been interested in since 4th grade. During her time at Washington Metropolitan High School, Mikaila says that her teachers were “caring, energetic, loving, and inspiring.” Mikaila says that she had a “really good experience at Wash Met” and that she realizes that everything that the teachers, deans, and principal asked of the students was for a good reason. “They help you get through things you need help getting through.” Mikaila has advice for students who are working toward their high school diploma, “Go to school every day because every day you go to school, it counts.”
