With more than 21 years of experience as an educator, Dr. Tanya Roane is an energetic, driven, and visionary instructional leader with a passion for identifying ways to raise student achievement. She most recently served as the school leader for DCPS’ Francis L. Cardozo Education Campus for seven years. Prior to joining Cardozo, she was the principal of Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Virginia for four years where she supported gains in graduation rates. Before that, she was the principal at Charles City Middle School in Charles City, Virginia where she helped to improve school-wide scores on the Standard of Learning (SOL) state assessments. Dr. Roane is a graduate of both Virginia Union and Virginia State Universities and completed her doctoral studies at Virginia Commonwealth University with a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. She holds an Executive Master’s in Educational Leadership from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
