Charles Thompson

Charles ThompsonFrom participating in baseball and the school musical to competing on the robotics team, Charles Thompson has focused on taking advantage of every opportunity Wilson High School has to offer. He says that he appreciates the ways that Wilson has offered him opportunity to push himself and how these activities have created a community within DCPS’ largest high school. Charles will be studying at Gettysburg this fall is interested in studying history or music, two subjects that drew him to the school. He has already auditioned for the school’s vocal music program, which he says he hopes will give him a community when he arrives on campus. Thinking about his future career, he says that he has always been interested in secondary education, inspired by his father who is an educator and one of Charles’ biggest role models. During Charles’ time at Wilson, he hasn’t had to look far for inspiration as his father serves as an instructional coach at the school and “works every day to make sure that every student has a great teacher.” Charles says that he hopes that younger students take advantage of every opportunity they get. “When I came to high school, I was scared to try out for the baseball team or the musical because I was afraid that I wouldn’t make it. Take advantage of these opportunities and put yourself out there because you never know where it could take you.” #DCPSGoesToCollege
