This fall, Desani Grant will enroll at Clark Atlanta University, a school she first visited on a trip organized by Dunbar High School’s NAF Academy of Engineering. She says she was drawn to Clark Atlanta University because of its location in Atlanta and because of the school’s focus on giving back to the community and helping others. She plans on majoring in biology, so that she can become a dentist. A trip to Clark Atlanta University is only one of the benefits Desani says she has gained through her participation in the NAF Academy. She says the program has provided her additional support on her path to graduation. “They gave us a push as far as helping and supporting us toward graduation.” She is currently enrolled in a Design and Development engineering course where students were tasked with building something to prevent natural disasters. “Building something from scratch was challenging, but I learned that you can build something from anything.” Desani wants to encourage younger students to take their ninth grade courses seriously. “People think ninth grade doesn’t matter, but freshman year is where you build your platform.” #DCPSGoesToCollege
