Shelly Gray

LaSalle-Backus Education Campus

Shelly Gray has been an educator for 23 years. She began her career in Montgomery County, Maryland as an elementary school teacher. From there, she spent 13 years in Hillsborough County, Florida where she was a classroom and writing resource teacher and a language arts professional development writer and trainer. The last six years of her career has been with DCPS. During this time, she has worked as an instructional coach, a manager of elementary literacy curriculum and professional development and an Assistant Principal at LaSalle-Backus Education Campus. As Assistant Principal, Ms. Gray currently oversees literacy instruction, technology, and school-wide assessments. Ms. Gray believes that every school community can and must be united in honoring the development of all students, while recognizing the diversity within. Ms. Gray holds a Bachelor of Elementary Education with a Spanish concentration from the University of Maryland and a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from the University of Maryland University College.
