Jessica Johnson

Turner Elementary School

Jessica Johnson was born in Homestead, Florida but grew up in a military family. Her passion and love for teaching and learning stemmed from the various school experiences she had in and out of the country. She began her career in education 13 years ago with Prince George’s County Public Schools. While there she served in various capacities including 3rd – 5th grade teacher, new teacher mentor, grade level chair, curriculum writer, and STEM coordinator. Seeking an opportunity to have a greater impact on student achievement and teacher development, she joined DCPS in 2013. While at DCPS, Ms. Johnson has played a significant role in increasing student achievement, developing teacher capacity, and building teacher leaders. She believes all students can achieve given a positive environment, loving, caring and encouraging school community. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Florida State University and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from Johns Hopkins University.
