Patrick Ashley

Patrick Ashley

Patrick Ashley is the Deputy Chancellor of Finance and Operations. In this role, and as a member of the Chancellor’s leadership team, Mr. Ashley is responsible for ensuring DCPS has the systems and resources to support our students, teachers and schools in our quest to ensure all students feel loved, challenged and prepared.  

Patrick is passionate about helping the government work efficiently and effectively to support its residents. As a senior executive in DC government, Patrick has worked tirelessly with other leaders in DC Government to increase the operational efficiency of agencies he has worked with. Prior to being selected as Deputy Chancellor, Patrick was the Chief of Fiscal Strategy here at DCPS. Patrick joined the District government as a Senior Deputy Director at the DC Department of Health (DC Health). Most notably, in this role, Patrick was responsible for the implementation of the health and medical response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was nationally recognized for its effectiveness in addressing community inequities, and the Mpox response. Prior to his role at DC Health, Patrick served in senior positions at the Virginia Department of Health and the Northern Virginia Emergency Response System.  

Patrick has been a resident of Ward 6 for more than 10 years, is a Certified Emergency Manager, Project Management Professional, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master of Science from Eastern Kentucky University, a Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University Shreveport, and is completing his Doctor of Law and Policy from Northeastern University.
