District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) Chancellor Kaya Henderson issued the following statement today mourning the loss of former Mayor Anthony Williams’s mother Virginia Williams.  

“My thoughts and prayers are with the Williams family as all of us at the District of Columbia Public Schools mourn the loss of Virginia Williams, a great friend to this city. As ‘First Mother’ in DC, she made herself a regular in our schools and our children cherish those memories. Our deepest and sincere condolences are with Mayor Williams and his family."
