The School Without Walls (Walls) Debaters made debating history at Saturday's DC Urban Debate League's tournament. 60 debaters, divided into 21 teams, with approximately three students per team, from eight public and private high schools participated.

There were 4 rounds of debating. Walls had 15 debaters and five teams, who won the following awards.

In the team category, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th; and 7th place awards. In the Individual Speaker Category, 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 9th place awards.

In the Sweepstakes category, which is given to school with the highest winning percentage, Walls won the 1st place award.

There were 5 Walls teams and 4 rounds each.  Four Walls teams won 4 of 4 rounds; 1 team won 3 of 4 rounds; and 1 team had a bye, meaning it had to sit out 1 round because there was an uneven number of teams.

Walls debaters overall performance was history making. No participating school in the history of the DC Urban Debate League had ever before won with such a high percentage, and none have ever won the top 4 team awards.
