Anacostia High School (Interim)

Kenneth Walker has served the educational community in the District of Columbia and Prince George's County since 1998. His career has encompassed a broad spectrum from elementary through high school, serving students in both special education and traditional education settings. His leadership skills as academic dean of students and assistant principal have earned him a reputation as someone who inspires staff to collaborate, plan, and implement best practices for diverse learners. 

Most recently, Mr. Walker served Ballou High School as an assistant principal and interim principal. During his tenure as assistant principal, he led the tenth-grade class to a 90% promotion rate in 2016 and the ninth-grade academy to an 81% promotion rate in 2017. As a twelfth-grade administrator, his primary focus was college and career readiness. He accompanied students on many college tours and provided opportunities to explore post-secondary career paths.  

Mr. Walker's work analyzing academic and attendance data resulted in advances in student achievement. He also engaged families in quarterly meetings to effect positive change in school culture and students' academic success. Both staff and students view Mr. Walker as someone they can talk to and who will work with them to achieve positive outcomes.  

Mr. Walker holds a bachelor's degree in public relations and communications from Delaware State University and a Master of Public Administration and Public Policy from Bowie State University. Mr. Walker has been married to his wife, Shiquita, for 17 years and is the proud parent of Khloe Lynn and Kenneth Joseph Walker.
