Ballou High School
Willie Jackson is a native Washingtonian and an alumnus of Ballou Senior High School. He has devoted his entire 25-year career in education to DCPS. For eight years, Mr. Jackson was a science, health, and physical education teacher at Takoma Education Campus. He moved into his first leadership role as an assistant principal at Walker-Jones Education Campus in 2005. Later that same year, he became the principal at Hine Junior High School and continued in this role when the school merged with another to form Eliot-Hine Middle School. He went on to support school athletic programs across DCPS as the director of athletics before becoming the interim principal at Phelps Senior High School in 2012. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Cheyney University in Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in education leadership from George Mason University. One of Principal Jackson’s main guiding principles is to infuse young people with the knowledge, the values, and the confidence that it takes to be the architects of this new and productive society.
