Semanthe Bright

Coolidge High School

Semanthe Bright is the new principal at Coolidge High School for School Year 2017-2018. She has been in the education field for 25 years, eight of those in Washington, DC. Most recently, Bright served as the assistant principal at Coolidge High School during School Year 2016-2017. Prior to that, she also served as an assistant principal at Dunbar High School and McKinley Technology High School. Before coming to DCPS, Bright worked as a teacher in Prince George’s County and the Archdiocese of Washington as well as a program director at Rock Creek Academy. Bright is most excited about the principal role because it provides her with an opportunity to transform a school into a learning community that ensures all students meet their academic and personal potential, while inspiring staff and having measures in places for accountability. Bright received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Morgan State University and her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from McDaniel College.
